The Mackeys live in the beautiful town of Keene in the midst of the Adirondack High Peaks. “We’ve always wanted a solar system, but our last house wasn’t set up well for it, neither was the yard,” Beth Mackey explains. “So when we moved here, it was on the list of things to do.”

The Mackeys were then connected Apex Solar through their friends who had gone solar with the company. After hearing the positive experience their friends had with Apex, the Mackeys decided to start their own green energy journey by utilizing the unused portion of their driveway for a standard ground-mounted solar array.

“From the first point of contact to the installation, everything was seamless and taken care off. We felt confident working with everyone at Apex and we had a great experience.”

Beth adds, “The installers worked so fast, and they were all very kind to our kids.”

Beth remarks how she and her husband had always thought that solar was beyond their reach financially before they went solar with Apex, but soon realized that it wasn’t the case at all since all they are doing is trading their electric bill for solar payments.

“Our system stands as a reminder to others that this is something achievable up here (in the Northeast),” Beth says. “We have a responsibility to take action – not just talk about climate change but actually do something that will make a difference.”

TYPES OF GROUND MOUNTS
STANDARD GROUND MOUNT

Easy to install and maintain because there are no moving parts. It is more scalable than other ground mounts and easily accessible for cleaning. Ideal on a spacious yard.

POLE MOUNT

A pole mount is an elevated solar array supported by a single pole. It is a durable structure that is also manually adjustable to boost annual yield. It takes up less space and can installed even on slopes.

DUAL AXIS TRACKER

Dual-axis trackers follow the sun from dawn to dusk capturing all of the energy the sun provides, resulting in 30% higher yield than a standard fixed ground mounted system.

BENEFITS OF GROUND MOUNTED SOLAR
SCALABLE

More scalable than a roof mounted system. A ground mounted system can be sized to match your electricity demand without the space restrictions of a roof mounted system.

FLEXIBLE

Unlike a rooftop system which can be restricted by the roof’s orientation or angle. Ground mounts can be positioned, oriented and angled to maximize solar production.

ADAPTABLE

Ground mounted solar system can be installed on open land so you don’t need to worry about roof obstructions such as chimneys or skylights that might affect your solar production.
